So, now that you're here...[edit]

Can you figure this place out? I'm curious, because I still haven't. ~ Pointy.png 22:12, 6 October 2011

Nope. I'm still trying to figure out signatures. As you can see -> --{{SUBST:User:Black_flamingo11/sig}} (talk) 02:52, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Did you check the box? ~ Pointy.png 05:10, 8 October 2011
Ah yes, that's the stuff. The text I was ticking didn't make any sense to me. Why can't it just say "tick this to make your sig work"? --Black Flamingo 12:32, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Because that would be too easy. I suspect the software is actively trying to discourage us from using sigs like this. ~ Pointy.png 17:50, 8 October 2011
This is cool man, now I have two talk pages to check. I feel like a crazy socialite like... that guy, and... what'shisname. If only I had some other friends I'd be just like them. --Black Flamingo 01:06, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Now you may build an embassy. Yeah, really, even Uncyc doesn't have one yet. Steal some ideas from the other embassies, if you dunno how building one | CartoonistHenning (talk) 21:13, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll get on that as soon as I'm done with what I'm doing now (Must. Stop. Masturbating...) Feel free to help (with the embassy, I mean). --Black Flamingo 18:59, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Ever thought of placing a penis ring for a while? I've never tried it before, but I don't share your addiction ;-P CartoonistHenning (talk) 19:27, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I ended up just making love to it. --Black Flamingo 20:52, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi[edit]

How are things? I was just dropping by to say that as the ambassador(?) for Uncyc, I thought I might have a chat to you relating to appealing a ban I appear to be under. Apparently I was banned for a day as I was thinking about leaving the site, and came back and criticised some things and as a result I was starting drama.

My problem is that I did not have the ban explained. I asked for an explanation and the ban was extended and no explanation given, and I asked again and the ban was extended again, as I was asking as a "sock" (while not hiding who I was in any way). I was then told that I neede to either email or go onto IRC to ask about the ban. I did both, and was ignored. I asked again, and was ignored. I asked again, and was ignored. I gave up trying to change my behaviour as I still had no detailed reason for the ban being given, but I wanted to continue to improve the site. I hung around as a sock for a week or so, writing a couple of features and fixing a few dozen articles, and then when the ban was lifted I started a forum relating to de-opping an admin - something that I had been told to do if I had an issue with said admin. I was then perma-banned for sock-puppetry for avoiding a ban I didn't have justified in the first place. I continued to sock-puppet as I still hadn't had the ban explained, and had no way to appeal it as my emails were being ignored constantly.

I've now been banned from IRC, so I cannot appeal the ban there, and had every email ignored, so cannot appeal the ban there. I've apologised, repeatedly, and given suggestions of conditions of my return. And I've been ignored. A significant percentage of the userbase believes that the permaban is unwarranted, including various admins. I've ceased any controversial actions on the site, and didn't start any in IRC, have done nothing controversial on the mirror site except start to update it. Given I'm one of the most active editors on Uncyc, including one of the most active reviewers, re-writers, feature-writers, worker on collabs, supporter of admins (when deserved), image manipulators, wiki-coders, and supporter of n00bs (to the point that I revitalised NotM and started a competition to revitalise UnNews), this seems a little harsh. Especially as there has only been one serious ban prior to this in the last three years - and that was overturned by another admin - and I was likely to have become an admin recently prior to my pulling out to try and avoid drama (which didn't work, and has been used as an argument against my return, despite being clear as to why I was pulling out).

I have now destroyed my old account - and by that I mean deliberately destroyed my password under that username - as the drama surrounding it is too stupid to fathom. But I cannot return under an alias as other writers - including one of our highest three feature winning writers - have done before.

I will happily accept a ban - I know that there's no way of avoiding that. But a ban without hope of reprieve is not likely to make me want to come back according to the rules. I've been asked to not sockpuppet during my ban as it hurts my case, but I haven't got a case as there is no method of appeal except to continue emailing someone who has chosen - from the start - to not act with openness or clarity, or even the slightest bit of civility.

So, I'm asking you if you can step in and do anything at all to assist. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi; You're my only hope. --PuppyOnTheRadio (talk) 14:30, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
