    Mediawiki 1.25.2 and extensions

    Most of the servers are now running PHP 5.5; this is causing problems for the old version of MediaWiki. I've upgraded to the current stable MW, leaving a fine new list of everything that's been broken by replacing MediaWiki 1.20a with the current, supposedly-stable MW 1.25.2:

    • mw:extension:VisualMathCaptcha is abandoned and broken. It will need to be replaced, presumably with KeyCaptcha, as this is breaking user registration.
    • Custom namespaces (such as UnNews) aren't being handled properly, the namespace is listed on Special:Namespaces but sometimes ignored.
    • A few small wikis (such as non-English Illogicopedias) are using an incorrect image path, breaking thumbnail generation
    • mw:Manual:$wgDefaultUserOptions settings need to change, every edit (as default) watchlists a page unless the user Special:Preferences turn this off? Default image size is also appearing as 300px?
    • Any issues with CloudFlare still remain, unless and until an extension is created to purge cached pages once the originals are updated. This is an issue when uploading a new image over an existing one with the same name.
    • User registration CAPTCHA image and associated text is not localised properly for some languages, with Japan as one obvious example.
    • pt: is reporting issues with Truthcode on some domains in some browsers, and some buggy Categories
    • pt: reporting inability to hide the site notice; is this still happening?
    • Editcount output contains thousands separators and extraneous characters, breaking #expr: calculations
    • {{#logotipo: extension isn't changing the logo on a per-page basis
    • JavaScript collapsable tables (like pt:template:anime) are not expanding when clicked; the same issue applies to collapsible mediawiki:sidebar sections (like "reports and requests" on meta:)
    • need to return the correct .css skins for the new MW version
    • misaligned search box at upper-right on Vector skin on meta: commons: and nl: - most others (including pt: and fi:) look correct, yet this is the same MW code?
    • The table code on the front page of mechelen.mapt.be is broken, even though this wiki is still on the old version of MW.
    • The interwiki table needs to be updated
    • The 'bot-generated templated pagecount on info:'s front page is not updating properly

    Done:

    • "Error: 1054 Unknown column 'page_links_updated' in 'field list' (sophia)" should be gone now that the database update is complete; a few minor wikis need to be checked.
    • mechelen.mapt.be will need to stay on its old version (MW 1.17) because of no-longer-supported extensions and to avoid breaking the background image; this will require moving the wiki to one of the other servers due to PHP issues.
    • The image server was perennially running out of disc space, an unrelated issue to the MW upgrade. I've moved these to another server with more free space.
    • CloudFlare's IP address is/was appearing in recentchanges for some edits on one server. mw:extension:TrustedXFF may be a possible alternative to fix this.
    • The sites were running slowly or sporadically slowly. Saving pages and thumbnailing images seem to take their sweet time.
    • The image server is not thumbnailing SVG's properly

    Broken extensions:

    • mw:extension:MW-EditCount and LogCount are broken, either because of the new MW version or the PHP "upgrade". These extensions have long been abandonware. One possibility is to use the mw:extension:EditCount that Wikia and en.uncyclopedia.co use, but that doesn't count log entries ("this evil administrator has huffed 1313 pages and banned 666 hapless users") and the template syntax is different {{special:editcount/username}} instead of {{#ec:username}}. Desciclopédia (pt:) is looking at unleashing the 'bots to replace #ec, but a replacement for pt:Desciclopédia:EvilRank will require changing the PHP code.
    • mw:extension:SubmitInToolbar has been broken since PHP 5.3 and removed as abandoned.
    • mw:extension:IRC Chat is abandoned and, like other extensions which derive from "class SpecialPage" in MediaWiki, likely broken. This was on very few wikis (pt: was one) and should only affect the one page that had the JavaScript IRC client displayed.

    In Desgalipedia

    It is already giving me a serious nuisance because there are no pictures of usage conditions this situation servers. No image can be miniature and the server does not help at all. The great proof of this are images: in DG and in DP who can not stay without getting bugs.     I managed to restore the latest images with thumbnail errors, however, they were all with errors and do not appear under any circumstances. And, new errors arose as not being able to move the pages. Also on occasion, the edit mode, because the server speed, appears like a printed sheet.

    Only Firefox using .org?

    Truthcode in trouble, it seems only works if you are logged in desciclopedia.org and using Firefox. USERNAME and navigation templates presets do not have the link Expand/Show (Expandir/Mostrar) with similar cases.     In Wikinet

    The namespace "Anexo:" and "Especial:" in Wikinet vanished without a trace. The "Anexo:" is a very important namespace, it's used to handle things that get incorporated into many articles using transclusion. I think "Especial:" was renamed to "Special:" but this broke all links that use "Especial:". Cthulhu.fhtagn (talk) 20:03, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
    According to http://wikinet.pro/wiki/Especial:Namespaces the affected namespaces are "Anexo" and "Portal" (one has eleven pages, the other is empty). Especial is built-in and looks normal. Carlb (talk) 20:20, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

    That also seems to be caused by a broken extension, mw:Extension:VisualMathCaptcha is throwing errors even on generating the special page list. On the few wikis already switched to another captcha provider, the page looks normal. 66.102.87.61 23:38, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

    New bug: the software is trying to search the images of Wikinet in http://images.uncyc.org/pt/ (the Desciclopédia folder) instead of http://images.uncyc.org/wikinet/ (Wikinet's folder). So, no image appears. Cthulhu.fhtagn (talk) 18:36, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

    Absent extensions in Inciklopedia

    There is currently no mw:Extension:Gadgets (Special:Gadgets does not exist). This is a very useful extension and in uk: users especially depend on it, because I worked on gadgets for long time to improve general conditions of the site especially for editing.     Reporting more (or the same) problems with images

    There are problems to go to a page becoming too slow to task. (sometimes in PD, just the wiki is off), there are also problems to edit it disappeared the editing buttons.

    Another point is that the loading of pages is so slow that when finally loads the page gets appearance of a printed sheet. It is also flawed getting the loading of images that can not stand in miniature form.     There's no way to get accurate page counts (short of using GoogleAnalytics or other outside services) as the site is behind CloudFlare, so many requests never reach the origin servers. Carlb (talk) 17:47, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

    The sites are still problems with loading pictures. Also be able to view them as little miniature and delete them. And this problem is getting too long.     This is the same problem that happens when uploading images to the local wikis. In uploading or deleting images, the system generates two hashtags in order to place the image in the correct folder but, for some unknown reason, this process has a bug. So, we can't upload images to the local sites (because the image goes somewhere else, not the place indicated by the hashtags, or it's the reverse, the image goes to the correct place but when we try to get it the hashtags are wrong) and we can't delete images.
    Of course I have no idea what the software does, but I suspect that at one point it's taking the subfolder and using it to produce the hashtag, while at other point it's ignoring the subfolder.
    The hashtags are, for example, the "/e/e4/" in Wikinet's image Osaka_vuvuzela.jpg (gosh, this is soooo 2010...) Cthulhu.fhtagn (talk) 15:32, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

    In Ansaikuropedia

    • logotipo tag does not work (#setlogo from extension:LogoFunctions should be an alternative, but is not installed on アンサイクロペディア.com?)
    • source tag does not work
    • In "アンサイクロペディア.com" server, captcha has problem (when link to other web sites and upload files)
    • Special:ActiveUsers is empty
    • cannot hide log entries
    • pages with timeline tag crash
    • search box doesn't show the page directly (when login)
    • Special:MathStatus <- database error
    • Edit Tool Bar doesn't be active
    • cannot register mail address (<- Uncyclopedia's mail address has error?)
    • Special:MyPage/common.js and Special:MyPage/common.css is not allowed ([2])
    • patrol log is strange (patroler is who doesn't have patrol authority)
    • user interface, comparisons (diff) between two revisions don't look like Wikipedia and it is hard to find what has changed.
    • CANNOT delete images. (this should be fixed now)
    • in アンサイクロペディア.com, FakeTitle doesn't work
    • Charinsert doesn't work on Chrome
    • math tag says, "couldn't make png file."

    What's going on with the servers?

    Since yesterday, the servers has given speed problems getting slow and that moment is in chaos to edit. Do not load any images eas pages are getting too slow. Apparently Desgalipedia is offline failing or access. Other sites are too slow.     Editing denial in Desgalipedia

    The server can not accept any editing mine. Now I do not know what the fucking problem but any issue is canceled giving loss of connection. It becomes absurd when I notice 10 items created by another editor and I can not do a damn issue to fix. The server also does not accept the loading of images.     Simple English Uncyclopedia broken

    The Simple English Uncyclopedia seems to have something terribly wrong with it. I'm not sure if it's a caching issue or what. It's reproducible on different ISPs.

    I first noticed if I tried to edit an article, the page would not reflect the changes. I have now noticed that it seems that the server is only ever fetching the data once, and seemingly feeding that same, single result to whoever accesses the articles. This includes for things like logins, new articles, etc. It seems that every so often it resets, and you can view the latest versions of articles.

    I'm not sure if what I'm saying makes sense, as I'm not a web server administrator. Just go and play around with it and you'll see that it's broken. Kazimiera (talk) 10:20, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

    I am the administrator of Traditional Chinese Uncyclopedia. I don't know whether I post it in the right place. Anyway, the deletion of mw:Extension:TitleBlacklist causes more vandalisms, so I want it back!     Why Çciclopedia (mwl.uncyclomedia) was redirected to uncyclopedia.info. To make matters worse, cciclopedia.org is operational, but if you try to edit or visualize anything being on cciclopedia.org it redirects to uncyclopedia.info and giving result of error 404.     Problem with namespaces on Cantonese Uncy (yue:)

    load.php loads outdated revision on Japanese uncyclopedia

    Our ResourceLoader is living in past - the Summer of 2015.

    MediaWiki:Common.css, MediaWiki:Common.js, Gadgets, user CSS, user JS, and any other CSS and JS.

    I had waited over a year for those caches being purged and it never happened.
